MUSIC MINISTRIES DEVELOPMENT PROPOSAL

Dear Brother/Sister,

Music is one of God’s greatest gifts to mankind. This gift, which has existed since before the beginning of creation, has the power to transport the listener to heavenly places and call the soul to recognize its need of Christ and to accept Him as a Personal Saviour from sin. It is also one of the most important elements in our spiritual program: a powerful ministering tool which, when rightly employed, can help heal and assist in overcoming cultural barriers. When used to praise and worship our Savior, it can inspire and elevate our souls to produce strong emotions, transcending even the spoken word and breaking down the barriers of both language and culture.

We believe that the music ministry is as vital to the process of winning souls for Christ as the “coming together’ of God’s people for worship and fellowship, and should be seen as a complement to the spoken word and not as a threat. It is a very important evangelistic tool which is currently not being utilised fully within the SEC. For this reason we propose the setting up of a full-time Music Department with a strategy and a budget to facilitate the training, re-training of musicians within our churches, the development of music amongst our Church and all aspects of quality music production within our Church.

• Create a Full-time music department within the conferences.
  This will bring about uniformed worship, eliminating uncertainties of individual’s and also personal opinions and choices.
• Win souls for Christ through our unique style of Music
• Utilise the distinct talents God has given our Church, to tell His wonderful story and give Him glory
• Music academy mentoring program. Where training would be facilitated. (Seek to work with Newbold College to develop and implement a programme)
• To reach out not only to our members but those around our community who don’t know Christ through music
• Put strategies in place to facilitate on-going training (like running yearly seminars about music and its powers)
• Provide a budget to undertake this project
• Produce yearly DVD’s CD’s to promote our Adventist type of music

Benefits of this campaign:

Placing a strategy in place that attends to the music ministry will:

• Heighten the worship throughout our Church
• Improve the use of music as an evangelistic tool;
• Improve confidence of the music teams;
• The use of Christian music in the home will Provide for a better family environment

Having a department that overseas the music ministry will:

• Reduce or eliminate burn-out in individuals; facilitating leadership development
• Provide a dedicated time of worship and exhortation to aid the spiritual growth process of those involved in the music ministry
• Aid in the process of reversing the current trend in youth retention as this group relates well to music and can relate better, to the gospel message through this medium.
• Integrating the church with the community
• Develop a pragmatic and tangible way of reaching the community
